Since the age of 3, James has taken to the stage whenever the opportunity presents itself singing and dancing his way through many local talent shows in his locality of Grimsby, to national level on BBC One’s The Saturday show in 2003. From his early interests in performing, he continued to study dance and performing arts at the Grimsby Institute after leaving school.

By the age of 17, James undertook a season of performing in Cornwall, followed by a year at Coastfields, Skegness where he trod the boards in a variety of production shows. The following year James was lucky enough to be spotted by Bourne Leisure which gave him the opportunity to work at Butlins Resort Minehead. Here James’ wealth of talents were put to use, regularly performing in front of thousands of guests, showcasing a wide range of shows each week of his 2 year residence at the resort. During this time James stared alongside acts such as The Saturdays, the Sugababes as well as previous X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent contestants. In 2010 James took to the road with Beautiful World singing the music of Take That, supporting acts such as Peter Andre and Jason Donovan on their arena tours.

Following the success of this, James found himself located in Tenerife at the 5 star Sensatori Resort for the summer of 2011, as part of a variety of productions showcasing genres from musical theatre to rock and roll. As winter approached James flew direct to Hamburg to join the cast of Take That Live reprising his previously played role, performing alongside a range of other acts within the Weihnachtsfeierzauber big top arena’s to great acclaim each evening.

Whilst staring in a number of productions over the previous years, James was able to explore his interest in solo performance at the beginning of 2012, through auditioning for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, making it to the final 250 contestants from the 250,000 that had entered the competition.

The experience from this audition has spurred on his ambition to write, create and perform his own music. Continuing on from this, 2012 made James’ debut as ‘Only Olly’, paying tribute to the work of Olly Murs

His solo work as ‘Only Olly’ has grown from strength to strength over the past six years, which has taken him to all ends of the country as well as meeting the cheeky chappy himself, performing at a wealth of venues to audiences on a nightly basis.

This year James is once again taking to the road with his solo show of ‘Only Olly’ which again will be taking him across the country as well as abroad.

Alongside these performances he will also be performing his own music as James William. He has already completed his debut album which encompasses the genre of mainstream pop and is already working on new music for 2022. James is looking forward to the challenges and rewards that the year will bring.
